A night of amazing images

March 23, 2018

My word was the standard of work high tonight! All the entries gave the judge a difficult time to pick the winners.

The night started off in the normal, usual way with the draw of the raffle. From there our Chairman gave the club notices, news and any other info. Then gave a warm welcome to our judge, Mavis McCormick LRPS.

Mavis greeted us and made the same comment as myself. That the standard was so very high and it gave her real difficult to pick the winners from the two categories (Portrait and the other, action and movement).

The first category for critique and  scoring was the portrait round. Were I personally had two entries for. Mavis gave some excellent critique and I think the other members agreed. Some even taking on board what was said to help improve their work.

I felt there were a few images that stood out for me with the colours and tones. Then the rest of what makes a good photograph. Sadly these did not score as high as I would of thought. But like I said earlier, the standard was very high.

It came to the last three and the winners were announced. With no rest in between rounds, Mavis got right into the Action and Movement category. As before, the quality of work was just as high and the members should be proud of the photographs on show.

It was great to see some new members getting a commended or higher. Just goes to show that the help between members is paying off. Also all the demonstrations and practical nights paying off.

If you are interested in joining our club, want to learn, rebuild a passion or continue your then please feel free to come along to one of our meetings. New members are always welcome and you will always get a warm welcome.

As for these competition images, they shall be uploaded soon in our competitions gallery, found hereFor now, take a look at all our other work and please feel free to share your favourites on the social media platform of your choice.

I hope to see you at our next meeting on the 5th April for the results of the Open PDI, Round 3 competition.

We shall speak again soon,

Adam Richardson

Club Secretary
